Marisa Gelfand, M.Ed., LPC, NCC

Marisa is a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor with extensive experience in treating eating disorders and comorbid disorders, including substance use disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

A seasoned therapist, Marisa has worked with patients in inpatient and partial hospitalization treatment settings, giving her the expertise needed to partner with even the most severe patients.

As a graduate of Choate Rosemary Hall, a boarding school in Connecticut, and Brandeis University, Marisa is keenly aware of the pressure placed on adolescents, college students, and young adults and the negative impact that such pressure can have on mental health.   Marisa enjoys working with both male and female patients as they uncover the underpinnings behind their eating disorders, and she excels at helping even the least-motivated patient find a desire to recover and to live a healthy and productive life.

Marisa earned her Masters Degree in Counseling from the University of Missouri – St. Louis.  After graduating, Marisa moved to Washington, D.C., where she provided counseling at an inpatient substance abuse treatment center and at Reflections Eating Disorder Treatment Center at Dominion Hospital, the only inpatient eating disorder treatment center in the Washington, D.C. metro area.  Since moving back to Missouri, Marisa has worked at McCallum Place, an eating disorder treatment center in St. Louis and in private practice.  Marisa is licensed in Missouri and Virginia, and is a National Certified Counselor.
